So, how does the Students’ Union manage our environmental impacts? Well, we work very closely with the University on this one and our covered under their Environmental Management System.
You may be surprised to know that each year Bangor University produces over 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, over 1,000 tonnes of rubbish, and 150,000 tonnes of sewage. Or that the University use enough mains water to fill an Olympic size swimming pool every week (all of which comes from local rivers and lakes!)
Obviously as students, we are part of this impact, so it makes sense that we work with the University to reduce the effects we have on the environment.
The SU is very keen to reduce our impacts, look at how we’re doing it with paper!

Felly sut mae Undeb y Myfyrwyr yn rheoli ein heffaith ar yr amgylchedd? Wel, rydym yn gweithio’n agos iawn gyda’r Brifysgol ar y mater yma ac rydym yn dod o dan eu Trefn Rheolaeth Amgylcheddol.
Efallai bydd yn syndod i chi gael gwybod bod Prifysgol Bangor yn cynhyrchu 13,000 tunnell o garbon deuocsid, dros 1,000 tunnell o wastraff a 150,000 tunnell o garthffosiaeth bob blwyddyn. A bod y Brifysgol yn defnyddio digon o ddŵr o’r prif gyflenwad i lenwi pwll nofio maint Olympaidd bob wythnos (a hwnnw i gyd yn deillio o afonydd a llynnoedd lleol!)
Yn amlwg fel myfyrwyr, rydym yn rhan o’r effaith hwn, felly mae’n gwneud synnwyr ein bod yn cydweithio gyda’r Brifysgol i leihau’r effaith byddwn yn ei gael ar yr amgylchedd.
